Upon my first arrival to the Elms campsite, I was impressed. Its facilities were as comfortable as I could expect those of a campground to be, so the lack of negative aspects of the actual establishment kept me - for some time, in fact - from realizing that what I was impressed with was not the campsite itself, but its location. This point was driven home by the circumstances of my arrival at the end of June. As I rode in the back seat of the cab that dropped me off at the campsite, I was reminded just how scenic - even at night - the drive was. I must admit I got slightly nostalgic.
When I arrived at the campsite, I was turned away outright, after having made a booking indicating the date of my arrival, though not the time, as this was unknown to me. Regrettably, it was midnight.
In my own, limited experience, there are many very successful camping facilities and other services of the type that accommodate peoples' changing- and sometimes hectic- travel plans by being somewhat yielding, especially in the area of acceptable arrival times. One such campground had a sign posted advising late arrivals to simply set up their tent on available space and report to reception before 10 am.
The fact the the Elms campsite, as a fairly remote one, does not accommodate its prior guests' travel arrangements is, frankly, disappointing.
