The British staycation boom looks set to last as the lifting of restrictions in the UK has been delayed.
This week, we heard that travel restrictions put in place to halt the spread of Coronavirus in the UK will remain for at least another 4 weeks.
While the continuing travel restrictions may not be the news many of us were hoping for, it does mean more Brits will be holidaying close to home and that's good for the UK economy, which has seen its fastest monthly growth since last July.
Since the 3rd lockdown, we have been able to travel across the UK again, which has seen bookings to holiday lets and caravan parks increase by 68.6% according to the Office for National Statistics. ‘People bought more clothes, cars and caravans’, the BBC reported.
Rise in Holiday Home Sales
The huge rise in holiday home sales has been particularly significant and it’s not just touring caravans but motorhomes, camper vans, static caravans and holiday lodges. Demand is close to outstripping supply.
More Brits are holidaying in the UK than ever before. In our recent survey, over half (57%) of the Brits we asked said they were planning only a UK holiday this year. Almost half (49%) said they were planning beach breaks but with reports of Cornwall being fully booked for this summer, many are looking to other coastal destinations for a change of scene. And there’s more to see than Britain’s beautiful beaches and dramatic clifftops.
This year, you could explore the natural beauty of the Lake District or discover Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales, either on foot or at your leisure on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and stay near the Snowdonia National Park.
See the incredible Northern Lights and uncover a wealth of fascinating Viking history on the Shetland Islands or stay in any of these amazing places in Scotland.
From Yorkshire to Sussex to the Cotswolds, the UK has some of the most stunning natural landscapes, beaches, woodland and countryside with an amazing mix of ancient historic attractions, modern family theme parks and top eateries to enjoy.
Book a log cabin with a hot tub and mountain views in the Scottish Highlands or a pet-friendly luxury eco-lodge in the Yorkshire Dales with unspoilt far-reaching countryside views.
Perhaps a contemporary beach hut glamping experience with sea views and an outdoor fire pit and barbeque is more your style, or a large luxury mansion for all the family with a spa pool and gardens.
Or simply bring your camper, motorhome or tourer to one of the best touring sites in the UK where a warm welcome awaits.
