If you're planning a holiday in Brighton, the lively seaside city just 50 miles south of London, the nearest campsite is Brighton Caravan Club Site (formerly known as Sheepcote Valley Caravan Club Site), which is open all year. Tents, caravans and motorhomes are welcome and there are even tent pitches available for non-members. Camping pods for hire are also available at the Brighton Caravan Club Site. This caravan park nestles at the foot of the South Downs, just outside the city, two miles to the north east of the centre. Take a bus from here into the heart of the city, because parking is expensive in Brighton and the traffic wardens are vigilant.

There are 215 pitches in total, with 123 of them being hardstandings. 12 of the pitches are fully serviced. There are 57 pitches for tents. If you have a large motorhome or caravan, it's worth knowing that the maximum length that will fit on the pitches is 10.1 metres.

Facilities at Brighton Caravan Club Site include a high standard of washrooms, with parent, baby and toddler facilities and suitability for wheelchair users and walking disabled people.

There are so many great places to go and things to do in Brighton. Enjoy people watching, picnicking and paddling on the famous pebble beach. Visit Brighton pier for its candyfloss, fish and chips, a fortune teller, arcade games, bar, live music and daring fairground rides with exciting sea views. Go on the gentle giant Big Wheel to get the best views of the city from the air. Enjoy the opulence of The Royal Pavilion and discover gorgeous collectable furniture and objets d'art in the Brighton Museum near the Pavilion.

Brighton is famous for its exciting nightlife and the happy crowds have a huge choice of pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafés to choose from. The seafront bars and those around The Lanes are probably the most popular. Grand hotels grace the seafront, too, for those who like a more genteel dining experience. Some of them have lively nightclubs in their basements. There are theatres and concert halls, cinemas, gyms and pubs offering free live music. Just about every cuisine invented is available in Brighton. No wonder it's often dubbed 'London by the sea'.

This is a liberal multicultural town that particularly attracts all artists, musicians, actors and new technology wizards. Don't miss the Brighton Open Houses and Arts Festival every May. Brighton also hosts a very lively Gay Pride Procession and weekend each year, which turns the city into a huge street party that welcomes all liberal-minded people. Kemp Town, to the north east of the pier, boasts many flamboyant residents.

Take the miniature train – Volks Railway – from the pier along to Brighton Marina, where you'll find restaurants, designer shops, an Asda Superstore (free car park), cinema, bowling, a casino, pubs and of course lots of beautiful boats.

Fast trains run from Brighton Station to Gatwick and London. Stopping trains go along the coast to Lewes, Hove, Worthing, Arundel (with its beautiful intact castle) and Littlehampton (with its sandy beach). So you can enjoy great days out in London or the South Coast during your holidays in Brighton.

We been coming to this site for the last 3 years and every year the caravan keep improving the site. The site is in a great location for motorhomer's or if you what a rest from driving as the bus service is near by and you are in walking distance of Brighton marina for shopping and bars etc. There is one let down to the site which is the access road which can get a little tight mainly at the weekends do the playing fields users.

Have just stayed for a few days at the site and as usual for the caravan club the site itself was immaculate. One downside is the fairly long approach road to the site which is literally littered with spurious motorhome/caravans of dubious origin. very untidy. I did understand from the warden that this is likely to get better when the local authority adopt the road if this ever happens. My main point is please don't be put off or intimidated because the site is first class. very friendly wardens and extremely helpful when we had a problem with the Alde heating on our recently acquired van. very quick to offer the loan of a heater. The facilities as expected were spotless and of course the closeness to Brighton is great. definitely go back again.

This was our third visit to Sheecote Valley and the standards have never been higher. The wardens were friendly and helpfull in all respects from our first welcome to parting goodbuy, and were often seen walking round the park talking to visitors. The toilet / shower facilities were spotless at all times. We stayed on a pitch with mains water, electric and gray water disposal facilities. On Friday the numbers of guests increased which added even more to the atmosphere of the site. Brighton is so close and easy to reach and the marina (just down the road) has a real continental charm.
