Carnon Downs Caravan and Camping Park has a five-pennant rating from the AA and is just three miles from the cathedral city of Truro in the heart of Cornwall. The park holds a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award and was voted the regional campsite of the year for the south west in 2013.
Open all year, Carnon Downs Caravan and Camping Park welcomes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes onto the site, while there is also a luxurious, two-bedroom chalet available to hire.
Both hardstanding and grass pitches are available. The hardstanding pitches at Carnon Downs Caravan and Camping Park are all fully serviced, with the additional facilities available at an extra £2 per night. All the pitches at the park are spacious and well laid out, while the park is surrounded by woodland and hedgerows, ensuring guests the maximum level of comfort as well as a degree of privacy during their stay. This is also a dog friendly campsite. Please ensure your dogs are well behaved, kept on a lead and that you clean up after them.
You'll also find heated toilet and shower blocks on site. There is also a children’s play area, a dedicated dog walking area on the site, and acres of woodland both within the site and surrounding the park that you can explore at your leisure – which is also super for dog walking.
While the park is surrounded by miles of open countryside, farmland and woodland, there is also a range of amenities within walking distance, enabling guests to leave their car or campervan at the site. There are three country pubs close to the site, all welcoming to families and serving great tasting local ales and food.
Carnon Downs village is a charming location, with a selection of local stores to enable guests to stock up on essentials. Nearby, the River Fal offers tremendous fishing opportunities and beautiful walks, and the river flows into the Carrick Roads waterway, which in turn leads into the sea, and is also a great fishing spot. Loe Beach sits on the shores of Carrick Roads, and is one of the best water sports destinations in Cornwall. How about having a go at fishing, sailing and swimming around the beach, while the calm waters make the area perfect for little ones looking to paddle or become more confident in the water.
Guests can drive into Truro within minutes, where there is a stunning cathedral as well as many hidden gems among the shops that flank the cobbled streets. A little further away is the world famous Eden Project, while the central location of the park means the villages, towns and beaches of the north and south Cornwall coast are within easy reach. Indeed Padstow, made famous by chef Rick Stein, is around an hour's drive from this campsite, plus the world famous surfing paradise of Newquay is even closer, about 35 minutes from this site by car.
Carnon Downs Caravan and Camping Park is the ideal place for a relaxing family break in the heart of Cornwall on your camping and caravan holidays.

Have been going back to Carnon Downs several times a year for years. It's a great site: clean, well laid out, excellent, modern facilities, and wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable staff. There's a choice of pitches, but lots of hardstandings and fully serviced pitches. The park is carefully landscaped and well tended to allow a relaxing, peaceful stay. It's superbly located for exploring all around Cornwall. Would strongly recommend this site.

This was the first site we ever visited and still one of the best. It is now a Managed site under the C.C. umbrella. What we particularly like about the site is it's central position and both north and south coasts are within easy reach. The one shower block is the best I've ever seen (not visited the other) and the super pitches are great and spacious.
The dog walks can be a bit muddy and there is slight traffic noise from the busy A39 due to traffic changing gear for the roundabout, this is the only bad points but inside the caravan traffic cannot be heard. Would I go again, yes, I've been twice.
