Lincoln, Lincolnshire

Hartsholme Country Park Camp Site is a three-star holiday escape in a quiet section of the country park from which it takes its name.

The site is open from the beginning of March until the end of October each year, as well as for one week at the beginning of December when Lincoln’s famous Christmas market is held. It welcomes guests with motorhomes, touring caravans and tents, while there is plenty of space for caravan rallies to be held there.

The park has a capacity of 26 touring pitches, all of which are serviced with electric hook-ups. There are eight tent pitches also available at the park.

Although the site itself is basic with no bar, restaurant or shops, all of these amenities and much more can be found within a mile of the site, while you can easily visit Lincoln too, which is a mere 10-minute drive away.

The country park is perfect for guests looking to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. There is a large lake here that's ideal for a day’s fishing, while the streams and rivers that run away from the lake are excellent for this purpose, too. Walking and cycling alongside the waterways are both popular, as are relaxing jaunts through the woodland and across the meadows that make up most of the country park.

Hartsholme Country Park has an excellent visitor centre where you can learn about the wildlife and birds that call the park home, as well as find out about the range of events that take place there throughout the year. Swansholme Lakes, a nature reserve, can also be accessed via the country park, and is a great place to go for wildlife lovers and bird watchers in particular.

Lincoln is truly a city that has something for everyone staying at Hartsholme Country Park Camp Site on their motorhome, camping and caravan holidays. With Lincoln Castle and the magnificent cathedral found in the city itself, as well as a selection of museums, art galleries and other cultural centres, it’s a great place to go to learn about the past. There are also numerous National Trust and English Heritage properties within 20 miles of Lincoln, including Doddington Hall and Gardens and Rand Farm Park. There are also numerous city trails and routes through the city for those on two feet or two wheels, designed to offer great sightseeing and the opportunity to enjoy all the major attractions at the same time.

You can also enjoy time exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is also Tennyson country, plus Boston is an hour's drive away and you can enjoy a day beside the seaside when you visit Skegness, about a 70-minute drive from the campsite.

So stay at Hartsholme Country Park Camp Site and enjoy a retreat to the country.

Just returned from Hartsholme . . . and what a pleasant experience! The site is only 2 minutes from the main Lincoln ringroad and is well signposted. The other great benefit of this site it that it is inside the country park itself!

The pitches are well spaced with numbers either side of the pitch so you know exactly where to park(no guessing if you go to the left or right!). The warden is on duty at specific times but a plan of who is in what pitch stuck to the door of the office easily allows you to pull up, pitch and relax til the office is open and you can pay. Being run by the city council, they also give you a 24 hour number to call if you need assistance although highly unlikely.

A small site, with just 26 caravan/motorhome pitches and 14 tent pitches, it's a great getaway in middle england with all that Lincoln town centre has to offer just 2 miles down the road by a frequent bus service outside the park or by car. not the cheapest, especially the £3.30 for an awning per night but certainly very nice, except for an ugly block of flats seen in the distance.

We will definately be returning to this site in the future.
