For peace and tranquillity visit the beautiful Southport Botanic Gardens for a walk through the colourful floral displays and around the lake to the Victorian Fernery and see the birds in the aviary.
For golfers, there are several golf courses to choose from including the Royal Birkdale Golf Club which has held more Championship and International events than any other course in the world since WW2.
For animal lovers, Martin Mere Wetlands Centre is an 800-acre nature reserve of wetland where you can see wildlife from colourful flamingos and pink-footed geese to the majestic kingfisher against a backdrop of breath taking views. There’s also an outdoor play area for children with zip wires, treehouses and a large adventure playground.
Knowsley Safari Experience is a safari park with over 500 animals, from lions and tigers to rhinos, meerkats and giraffe. Explore the park in your car or on foot or take the family on a woodland walk through the Wild Trail or on a rowing boat on the lake.

Willowbank is conveniently situated for Southport with its shops, swimming pool and cinema and has good public transport links to Liverpool and Chester if you want to explore further afield.

Lovely clean well thought out spacious site, with good size dog walking area overlooking the army base I had thought it had a stream /water on site but if I'm right it was on the dog walk and due to the amazing hot weather had dried up, set within walking distance to a nature reserve on the way to the beach you can park on just carry on to the end of the road & turn left its probably a 20 min walk (we didn't make it off site as it was too hot for our dog to walk or go in the car) lovely staff will definitely be back only down side was our pitchone of 3 backed onto a very busy road and with a canvas frame could hear it all at night but step away from that pitch and you couldn't hear a thing so poss ok in a tourer

Visited this park a wknd in march. Was really impressed with the facilities. They were spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. On arriving we booked in at reception. Then the warden took us to our pitch, which was spacious and well maintained. There is a dog walk by the runway of the airport next door. Believe it or not I didnt hear any aircrafts. It is only a small airfield.
I liked the site so much we left the caravan there and paid for the wknd after. Cant wait to go back
and relax.
