This is a beautiful site. Very quiet and with amazing views over Dartmoor. Although it is very rural (and all you can hear in the morning are the birds singing), it is only a 10 minute drive to Tavistock. It is kept very clean and tidy, and well maintained. There are plentiful re-cycling facilities. We stayed in a Holiday Home ie static caravan, which was immaculate. Very comfy and plenty of storage room. Would definitely recommend.

Thankyou for your review - we are glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet and that our accommodation and facilities were up to scratch - we hope you return!

The sixth or seventh year we have visited Langstone Manor and it gets better every year!
We had some fantastice weather - for the UK - and a couple of wet days, but Langstone is the place to be even in the rain. The staff were as always, great. Particularly understanding and helpful when we had a problem with our trailor tent. We enjoy the atmosphere of the park and its focus on environmental issues and the care they take to keep the countryside on your doorstep!
The facilities, of washroom, laundry, bar, site pitches and caravan parking is better than I have seen anywhere in 25 years of UK and Eurpean Camping and caranvaning.

This is an excellant site to visit. Caravanning facilities are second to none...beautiful setting, superb washing facilities for yourselves and your pots and pans. If you wish for bar afcilitaies these are there, although we did not use them. Staff very friendly but not in your face. Open moorland area close to walk dogs off site. This was our second visit and we will be returning. Thankyou for Karen, Peter, Jet and Blaze (Whoof whoof)

We have been visiting Langstone for many years and have watched its development into the lovely site it is today. The facilities are great, but its the friendly, relaxed atmosphere that make this our favourite site. It's location is wonderful set right on the moor, with everything you need at hand. We will continue to enjoy visiting Langstone with our family and friends.

We have been visiting Langstone Manor for almost 40 years by tent, trailer tent and statics, from its humble origins to the terrific site it has now become. It is quite easily the best site around Dartmoor and West Devon for all types of holiday accommodation it has to offer. If you want absolute peace and quiet literally on the edge of Dartmoor, a spotlessly clean site, first class amenities and welcoming staff then this is the place for you at any time throughout its open season.

Property manager response (11 Oct 2011)

Thankyou very much for your review, makes all the hard work really worth it! Didn't realise you have been such a regular to Langstone we feel like relative newcomers having only been here for 12 years. We look foward to seeing you again soon!

Langstone Manor is one of Dartmoors best kept secrets. Set in a stunning location 100yds from open moorland with stunning views especially the sunsets.

Having stayed at Langstone on many ocasions it has always been an enjoyable place to come to whether its March or October and any time in between. As a keen walker its position is perfect, no busy roads nearby, no traffic noise. Some sites are much to near main roads, not this one.

Langstone has a bar serving good food, very handy after a long walk and you do not feel like cooking yourself. Its open times vary depending on the time of year.

The staff are always very friendly, always very helpfull even when I turn up without booking a pitch, although booking is of course best.

There are many sites we have been to, but Langstone is one the best.

I was given an experience voucher for my birthday which entitled me to a nights stay in a “Camping Pod”, as seasoned campers I decided to book a further two nights over the May Bank Holiday weekend at Langstone Manor, and boy, am I glad I did.
As soon as my family and I arrived at Langstone Manor we were escorted to our “Pod” and shown all the facilities the site had to offer.
The “Pod” was fantastic, small decking area out front, table and chairs for all four of us and a well placed fence screening you from the other two “Pod’s” and cracking wind breakers to-boot. Inside the “Pod” had a fitted carpet, lights and heater, which came in very handy as it rained most of the weekend and we were glad of somewhere warm to shelter.
We stayed in the family “Pod” which slept four of us comfortably; we just took to much kit. If we stayed in our tent we would have need our warm evening gear but in the “Pod”, with its heating and also as it was insulated with sheep wool it was toasty warm.
The site as a hole was fantastic; the showers were warm what ever time of the day you decided to use them and very clean. The washing up facilities had everything supplied, bowl, brush, cloth there were even composters!
There was a friendly on-site Bar with a small games room attached housing a pool table, air hockey and a couple of computer games, back in the bar there were enough board-games to while-away the wet evening hours, keeping our kids amused. I can’t comment on the restaurant as we did not use it but I heard no complaints.
All in all, Langstone Manor was the best site we have stayed in for a long time and we will be visiting again, if I am allowed to recommend anything it would be to “STAY IN A CAMPING POD” you will not be disappointed

We’ve stayed in Static Caravan Parks in quite a few places across the UK and have enjoyed our stay each time. But this Park would have to be the best we have ever been to. We stayed at Langstone Manor Park over the Royal Wedding Weekend and had a fantastic time. It was clean and tidy with well kept lawns, trees and gardens. Although we stayed in a Caravan this time we also do a lot of camping. So we had a look at the camping facilities while we were there for future reference. They were impressive.
There is also an onsite Pub! How many places can boast that?! It had a cosy atmosphere and the meals were great.
The Park is in a superb location with only a 10 minute drive to Tavistock and short drives to both North and South coasts. There are also loads of other attractions for all sorts of tastes in the area which the staff will be happy to help you find.
The Park also backs right onto the beautiful Dartmoor where through a few gates and a 10 minute walk up to the Pew Tor you get some breath taking views.
Last but not least, the Team at the Park were friendly and very helpful and always seemed to be there when needed. They really added to the overall ambiance of the place.
We would definitely go back.

Fantastic camping and comes highly recommended.
We were a group of 4 families camping with children ranging from 2 to 9 years. We had a brilliant time and felt like we had been on holiday for much longer than we had. The facilities on site are very good and cleaned to a very high standard. The pub on site serves good value hearty meals and there is an excellent range of games for the children within this area. The outside play park was a welcome addition. Location of the site is excellent having direct moor access. Pitches were nicely spaced and level. All in all a first class holiday and we will return next year.

I found Langstone Manor whilst trawling the internet. It lived up to its website and brochure. We were staying in a static van. We received a warm welcome and the van was spotless and welcoming with milk in the fridge and tea/coffee provided also. The site itself is so peaceful and quiet with great views. Good to see recycling taken seriously and services such as daily papers can be ordered. Staff were friendly and often to be seen around the site. We enjoyed a meal in the manor room which was warm and cosy. Also relaxing and welcoming for families with children seeking a respite from the typical british summer weather! I would recommend this site without hesitation.

I have camped at Langstone Manor for many many years now (Since before I was born) and have been very satisfied every single time, I have mostly visited with my family but have also made a couple of visits without them. Jane, David, Vicky and Karen are some of the nicest people that I know, and always provide a very warm welcome and are extremely helpful, such as on my last visit they offered to let me sleep on the sofa in the bar because of the pouring wind and rain, they even gave me a lift to the station the next day as I was on my bike. The facilities are fantastic, with clean toilet/shower blocks and of course the bar, with the local brew Jail Ale, being an absolute must, to accompany the fantastic meals and puddings that are locally supplied. The games room which is always open during the day is an absolute saviour for ducking out of the inevitable rain. The location of this campsite is fantastic too, 20 mins cycle from Tavistock, 1 hour from Gunnislake (the nearest rail station) and direct access onto the moor, which means evening walks up to pew tor are fantastic, particularly to watch the sun set over Bodmin moor, and to start a days walk from the campsite. Overall Langstone manor is the very best campsite I have stayed at and I would continue to go back there again and again and again.

This was our second visit to Langstone Manor. Two years ago we camped and found the camping facilities (showers etc) extremely clean, tidy and well maintained. What was particularly encourging is that you would always see the team around the site helping visitors, cleaning and generally keeping the place up together. This year we stayed in one of the caravans. It was spotlessly clean and tidy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The team are extremely helpful and welcoming and it is just the most relaxing place to stay. It is a retreat from modern day living. The children spent most of the time out making friends and playing in small play area and the friendly bar and games room in the evening was a regular event. I anticipate this will be a regular haunt of ours from now on. Would recommend it as an antedote to modern day living!

We have stayed at Langstone Manor several times now and always find it the most welcoming site we have used in 25 years camping and caravanning.

The owners and staff are always helpful , accommodating and show pride in their site. They always show an interest in how you are. The toilets are always maintained to a very high standard. In the Manor House they provide hearty meals, real ale and a warm welcome. Games for the children are available to use in the manor house or your own van/tent.

The site is in the perfect location to explore Dartmoor National Park with access directly onto the Moor and is within easy reach of many National Trust Houses. It is close to Tavistock with all the amenities that brings.

We can give this site a 5 star rating with confidence and shall be returning again.

My first holiday to Devon and Langstone Manor was back in 2003. Each year since then my husband and I have travelled back to Langstone Manor and have just returned from our 8th visit. We have camped as well as stayed in one of the apartments and most recently the static caravans. We have not been disappointed by any of the accommodation we have stayed in. The park is maintained to a very high standard and because of this and the direct access onto the moor, is why we keep returning!!

We find the hosts (Jane and David) very warm and welcoming and very approachable. Their other staff, Karen and Vicky are also lovely people, always showing an interest in how you are and also very warm and accommodating. We get on extremely well with them all and they are also a key factor for us returning each year.

We also love the fact that you can gain direct access to the moor which is a short walk up a quiet road. You can walk to so many places within 30 minutes! Being right on the doorstep of the moor also means that places such as Princetown and Postbridge are a short drive away for us to be able to don our walking boots and go and do some letterboxing.

We have everything we need when we stay at Langstone Manor - remote enough for peace and quiet but close enough to get to the local town and to be able to walk on the moor. By having a campsite with such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, it will always be a place we will keep returning to.

Thanks again for a lovely week spent with you.

No pleasantries in telephone manner when we rang Langstone Manor (no smile or welcome in the voice) - the usual run of the mill. Lacked etiquette. My wife and I did like the look of the brochure - however it could have been bigger (a lot of this is happening now - probably to save on postage). We love this part of Devon, but Langstone wouldn't be my or my wife's first choice to stay. I'm sure the countryside near it would be a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Bristol city though.

Property manager response (19 Mar 2008)

Hello, Sorry to hear you did not recieve a warm welcome, do you know who you spoke to? We are from the north of England and we can sometimes sound more scary than we really are! Our brochure has always been compact but hopefully gives a good overall view of what we have to offer, please try us again. Jane & David Kellett

This peaceful site offers just what the owners promise! We spent a wonderful two weeks here watching glorious sunsets from our site. Unlike the other sites in the area, access to the Moors was a short walk up a very quiet road with no through traffic and there ahead of you were the amazing rocky outcrops and Moors ahead. Close to Tavistock, a lovely town to visit with great speciality stores and a great market. National Trust properties to visit as well.
Toilets and showers were clean and the owners very helpful but not intrusive.
My wife and I would recommend this site very highly.
