Enquire Now You enquired

Yont the Cleugh Caravan Park is a friendly, family run holiday retreat on the northern edge of the Pennines, a short distance from the southern edge of Northumberland National Park.

The park welcomes guests with touring caravans and tents, while also offering ownership of a number of static caravans or a range of modern, luxurious, wooden lodges. The park is open from 1 March until 31 October for touring and camping guests, with the season extending up until the end of January for static caravan and lodge owners.

The amenities block at Yont the Cleugh Caravan Park includes toilets, basins and showers, plus there's also a laundrette, a dishwashing point and a tourist information area, perfect for guests looking to quickly discover the best places to visit across the Pennines or into Northumberland National Park. Calor Gas is available at the park for guests requiring refills or canister exchanges, while the bar is open throughout the season so you can grab a drink, and it also has a family and games room attached to it. Touring and camping guests are welcome to use the children’s play area, which is found in the centre of the static home area of the site, while the ball games field is also open to all and is adjacent to the camping and touring area.

The park is ideally situated for exploring many of the incredible outdoor attractions of the north, while a wide range of activities are also offered close by. Numerous waterways close by are suitable for fishing, though guests happy to travel with their equipment often head through Northumberland National Park to Kielder Water reservoir, or north west to the Lake District.

Pony trekking is a popular – and often the quickest – way to see as much of the countryside as possible, and is available from Allendale Town or Hexham, which are both found nearby. Half or full day tours around the area are offered, while there is also the option of taking lessons for those just looking to try something new.

The nearest town, Haltwhistle, is just a short, about 15-minute drive to the north, and is a great place to head in search of things to do. There is a wonderful golf course in the town, while there’s a leisure centre that houses a soft play area for children, in a sports hall also suitable for tennis, squash and badminton.

Mountain biking is popular in the area, with cycle hire available from numerous locations and some great routes both across the hilly landscape as well as the flatter moorland areas nearby.

Of course, this is also a fantastic part of the world to visit if you love walking holidays, with Kielder Forest Park, the Northumberland National Park, the Pennines, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District all relatively near by. And it's not just walking you can enjoy. Many other activities can be enjoyed, both by beginners and those more experienced, including sailing, windsurfing, geocaching, climbing, fell running and kayaking.

If you'd like to visit Carlisle on your camping and caravan holidays, it is only about a 40-minute drive from this park, while Hexham is about half an hour away.

So if you choose Yont the Cleugh Caravan Park as your base from which to explore Northumberland, you definitely will not be short of things to do.

Yont The Cleugh AVOID AVOID AVOID
Could be a lot better site with a bit tlc. The site is looking tired and rundown trees are overgrown hanging over the static and Tourer pitches some look dangerous and need taking care of ASAP.
The toilet and shower blocks really need outdated but told they are in the process of Making 20 new super pitches with a new shower block, which when you look on older reviews project started back in 2014 so can't see this being finished this decade.
Walking around site can be hard on the feet large gravel used for roads and pitches plus littered with duck droppings as there is a vast amount of free roaming ducks everywhere, talking to 1 Tourer owner they said “you have to keep the awning and caravan doors closed as ducks wander in and make a mess on your floors which stinks and are hard to clean up.
Static owners I spoke to say the owner seems to be tired and can’t look after the site on his own.
If your decking needs replaced it has to be carried out by who he chooses and the cost is well over the normal price of a contractor.
Tourer pitches advertised as a quiet site but owners don’t like anyone sitting outside of caravans/awnings having a drink or smoking say smoking should be kept to the awning. So basically come to the site but try not to socialise with others on the site as this is frowned upon.
There is a pub on site which the owner closed but has been used as a community room no sales of alcohol are allowed so take your own. They used to hold charity coffee mornings to raise funds for different charities but have now been informed that the owner has banned fundraisers here. This is also soon to be closed completely as the owner has plans for holiday lets in the building.
At the entrance of the site is a visitor’s car park which at the moment is being used by the owner to do car repairs on cars he is selling in front of that is the rubbish bin area that I can only describe as a scrap yard littered with old caravans trailers and car parts not a good sight if your caravan overlooks it.
Talking with other static owners 1 quoted that owner’s favourite saying is “My site if you do not like it then leave”.
OR if he takes a dislike to you for some reason he will kick you straight off-site.
1 static owner said they had been told by the owner that their grandchildren visit too much as they have too many grandkids they can’t all come at once so bring a couple at a time but looks like they will have to stop visiting soon.
Loads more sites in the area to check I’m sure you will find better if you wish to be in that area.
