Just took a short break (4 nights) at Castaways. The party was made up of 2 adults, 1 adult with disabilities, and 1 excitable Beagle. Not having been this way before, we selected this site because it had a fully equipped large spacious Lodge with a ramp and a wet room. The glorious sandy beach is accessible from the park down some steps. Though it is much easier and safer to use the long concrete ramp in the field next door. Getting down to the beach in a wheelchair is possible but you need at least two fit people to assist with this. When down on the beach the view is blocked by barriers to prevent erosion to the cliff face. Using the steps provided you can climb up and over the barrier to give you a massive, safe unspoilt, sandy runaround area for children and dogs. The view from the cliff top is wonderful. You forget that the park is situated next to the Bacton Gas Terminal as the area is so quiet and peaceful - Not a tourist trap. The site is small, and everyone is so friendly and helpful They welcome dogs, as does many of the local establishments in Norfolk. The dog had a wonderful holiday, and therefore allowed us a relaxing, and enjoyable break. Will definitely return again, and as the site is open all year round to cater for walkers - an Autumn visit should be good. Would definitely recommend it as a space to chill, and as a good base to travel out and explore Norfolk.
