Couples touring without children will love their stay at the adults only, dog friendly Plough Lane site near Chippenham. It’s a member of the Tranquil Touring group of parks, and as such you’re sure to have a peaceful visit. In addition, this is an award winning campsite. It is listed in the Top 100 Sites Guide 2014, a publication which brings together the best campsites in the UK and is put together by the expert teams at Caravan Sitefinder, Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome, readers' votes also playing a big part in which sites make it into this go-to camping guide. Guests commended the campsite for its good layout, its impressive and immaculate facilities, and the fact that it is so peaceful and tranquil.
This is a small, select campsite. It has 50 touring pitches, all of which are half hardstanding and half grass, and each has 16A electric hook-up, too. The facilities are of a high standard.
Despite being a quiet, peaceful site, Plough Lane is easy to access from the A350 (which is just off junction 17 of the M4) and is clearly signposted, too. If you want a break from cooking and washing up, there's a pair of village pubs within walking distance, or if you need to stock up on your holiday supplies, there's a supermarket nearby. There are also good public transport links – from the bus stop outside the campsite you can discover the local area while leaving your motorhome or car on site.
This campsite in Wiltshire is well placed to help you enjoy what the county has to offer on your motorhome tours and caravan holidays. Chippenham and Corsham are close by – why not visit Corsham Court. The National Trust owned Lacock Abbey is only a 15-minute drive from this campsite. Another abbey is nearby too, in Malmesbury, which is just 20 minutes by car from Plough Lane Caravan Site.
The historic city of Bath is about a 45-minute drive away, with is famous Roman Baths, beautiful architecture and associations with Jane Austen. In fact, Bristol is only about half an hour away down the M4. The rejuvenated harbourside is well worth a trip, with museums, bars, cafes and restaurants, and don't forget to check out the impressive Clifton Suspension Bridge – quaint Clifton, packed with independent eateries and shops is worth a wander, too. You're also about a 30-minute drive from the market town of Devizes and an hour from the mysterious landmark that is Stonehenge.
Fancy something a touch more high octane? Castle Combe racing circuit is about a quarter of an hour's drive from this campsite, and the village itself is charming, too.
So however you like to spend your motorhome tours and caravan holidays in Wiltshire, if you want a quiet yet handily placed, adults only campsite, the award winning Plough Lane might be just what you're after.

This has to be the example by which others are judged. Excellent in every single way. Easy location and approach, the best into pack I've ever seen and superb individual pitches. The facilities are prestine. The owners and staff are the most helpful that we've met, the office is open till 8.00 pm every day, nothing is too much trouble. Shame it's a long way from where we live. Contender for site of the year. They'll be getting our vote. Thank you to all

What a joy. Well managed fantastic and friendly site, Great facilities, toilet /showerareas have piped music and the decor has to be seen to be believed.
Beautifully landscaped park. Security and cleanliness are paramount. The added bonus? NO children. Possibly the best site we have visited. We will have no hesitation in returning next season.
Thankyou for a peaceful stay.

Totally agree with other reviewers a superb site. Easy access from the M4. All pitches are spacious with a grass area to the side with 16 amp hook-up and half are all service pitches.
The toilet & shower block is the best we have ever seen no wonder it has won 'loo of the year' awards. Lots of little extras are supplied e.g. aftershave and always spotlessly clean. The only thing I was not to keen on was the 'piped music' but that is just a personally view and hey who cares!
Arrival at the site is a pleasant experience and Roger even reversed our caravan onto the pitch for us which was very nice after a long journey. Also this site has a security barrier with card entry (£10 deposit which is returned on leaving), which is not common on UK sites and should be, other sites please note.
Nice pub The Plough Inn across the dual carriage way which we would recommend and there is a lot to see and do in the area. We are keen cyclists and would recommend the Kennet & Avon Canal, Caen Hill locks are simply amazing.
Yes there is road noise from the dual carriage way but we did not find it obtrusive.

This is a very pretty, clean and well-run site. The toilet facilities are top class. Although the people on the site were very polite and quiet, we found the traffic-noise from the nearby dual carriageway to be noticeable and quite intrusive. We also had an elderly dog with us and had quite a almost the longest walk to the dog walk - not where we would have pitched had we been given any choice. Others may find our niggles rather trivial.

This is positively the best caravan park in england that we have ever stayed at. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly owners and showed to our pitch. The toilet facilities are first class and spotlessly clean
Toilets & showers are the best we have been in. Lovely site and staff. Thanks you.
