Callow Top Holiday Park in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, accommodates caravans, motorhomes, tents, trailer tents and campervans, plus there are two oak-beamed holiday cottages on site.
An award winning holiday park in Derbyshire, it is well placed for exploring the Midlands, and Chatsworth House is nearby, too. It is also the perfect location for a self catering holiday in the Peak District, while those with families will no doubt appreciate the fact that Callow Top Holiday Park is only a 20-minute drive from Alton Towers.
But before you venture off-site, there is a lot to keep you entertained on-site at Callow Top. Adults will like the licenced supermarket, the pub and restaurant, the café/bar and the sun terrace, while younger visitors will love the games field, the amusement arcade, the heated swimming pool and the evening entertainment programme.
There is also a fishing lake, horseriding facilities, bicycle hire, Wi-Fi and dogs are welcomed, too. Facilities vary depending on the time of year and availability, but with this much on offer, you can see why it has won so many awards.
It is handy to know that Calor and Camping Gaz exchange is available on site, as is a freezer facility. In addition, visitors have the use of toilet blocks, showers, coin-operated hairdryers, sockets for hair styling equipment, shaver points, pot washing facilities, a fully equipped laundry room and a cash point. There are washrooms for disabled visitors, too. Recycling facilities, a motorhome waste disposal point and an Elsan disposal point are also on site.
Callow Top features some part serviced pitches that are all hardstanding and have a small grass area for your awning. For larger motorhomes, there are some bigger pitches available – be sure to ask the holiday park about this when you make your booking.
If you’re camping, the tent pitches are around 9m x 9m, but if you have a tent that needs more room, ask when booking if there is space for it. Also, if you want space to pitch a tent next to a caravan, get in touch with the owners, as this can be accommodated, but these pitches are booked well in advance. Please note that pitches for tents do not have electric hook-ups.
Winter storage and seasonal pitches are also available at Callow Top Holiday Park.
The two on-site holiday cottages are Dovedale Cottage and Ashbourne Cottage. Centrally located on the park, the former can accommodate up to five people, the latter up to seven, and when staying in these holiday cottages, guests are welcome to use all the site’s facilities. You’ll need bring your own towels, but bed linen and tea towels are provided, cots and highchairs available upon request.
The holiday cottages don’t have washing machines or dryers, but the holiday park’s coin-operated laundry facilities can be used. Pets aren’t allowed at the cottages.

The Peak District is an amazing and beautiful area of perfectly preserved countryside for walkers and ramblers. The nearby town of Ashbourne is famous for its Shrovetide Football and its bottled natural mineral water. Also nearby is Alton Towers theme park (about 20 mins drive), Chatsworth Park stately home and many other great days out.

HORRIBLE!!! First night someone's dog poo was left infront of our awnning, my children said the play area was full of kids pushing everyone down the slide. Children in the swimming pool were mean't to be superised by adults but rearly were. The cafe coridor is full of people smoking near the toilets the children use near the play area. Would not visit again or recomend site to anyone, unless you like music playing till 12pm.

I found this site to be well situated close to the town of ashbourne, which is well worth a visit, especially on market day (Saturday). This is a beautiful part of Derbyshire. The site is very well maintained, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The on site ‘pub’ is a lovely place to relax with its separate lounge if you don’t want to be disturbed by children. The on site pool is very nice although for the most part it is very deep so if you have children you should be aware of this. My only other criticism is that if you end up on field 6 the grass can be quite long, but if you book early you should be situated on one of the other fields.
