Lovely quiet campsite with an array of wildlife in and around the site...owner is fantastic, really helpful and keeps the customer at the forefront of her mind....a truly delightful campsite with owners who care about the countryside and nature.

We took our 2 children (and two terriers) to Old York Forest last weekend. Lovely site, recently re-opened. Well maintained and very pretty. We saw pheasant accross in the woods and two kestrels. Kids played rounders, hide and seek and climbed the odd tree. Took the terriers (and kids) into the woods and walked the 4 miles to Allerthorpe for a great pub lunch. Well enjoyed weekend!

Lovely campsite, water and power to each pitch, large grass area for kids to play, lots of nature and fab walks at the Allerthorpe Woods - Highly recommended.

My wife and I had a lovely weekend here. We highly recommend walks in the Allerthorpe Woods. We visited Sutton on Derwent and walked by the river then enjoyed lunch at the St Vincent's Arms. Took a trip to York and walked the City walls. The campsite was clean, smart and well maintained. Highly recommemded. We will be back..

Lovely clean site, with lots of pitch space and the water points are close.
The shower and toilet facilities were closed due to covid, but looked very
new and clean and we knew this before arriving, so we're prepared. It was
simple to book and the owners are welcoming and friendly.

Great spacious pitches, peaceful friendly site. Thank You to the lady that
came to check in with us, a nice personal touch.

We ate out twice, once for lunch in Stamford Bridge No10 Bistro which was
nice; secondly for an Indian at The Bengal Lounge in Pocklington which was
superb!!
We drove to Bridlington (about an hour away) and walked along the canal
towpath in Pocklington. York is 15 mins drive away

Initial findings were that the site looked clean and tidy however we found certain problems based on the description - in order to access the woodland walks described you need to walk down a 60mph road with no pavement or grass verge for approx 3/4 mile - not great when for adults horrific with children
The bin area was chocker block full, smelly and attracted flys and wasps
Nothing for the children to do apart from an empty field which is surrounded by a large pond so again not very child friendly
Would like to say we’d return but based on this visit I doubt it
