site first class, warden was very helpful even though we arrived quite late on sunday evening, toilet facilities could not be bettered, site a little on the hilly side, with a campervan good access and close to toilet with a disabled wife, the only complaint, non members welcome, YES if you pay £10 extra on top of the £19 fee

Its never a problem finding a site to pitch on in Derbyshire, its like a Mecca for caravanners so finding a new site is always a treat. Despite being relatively new this site was pretty much booked up when I was lucky enough to get a pitch last minute. As always the caravan club sites are immaculate with superb wash facilities. The site is split into two areas with the majority of pitches being in the first area you drive into, but carry on passed the wash block and you will find a second area down a gentle slope which has superb views over the Derwent Valley. It's a great site although I did find the pitches, despite still be being regulation size, rather clumped tightly together, not enough to put me off returning though but just be mindful that some of the pitches will need careful manoeuvring to get into if the site is busy. And they have a lot of serviced pitches available with the usual mixture of grassed and hard standing pitches. It is close to the Crich tramway Museum, Matlock and Chatsworth Park to name but a few if you need great days out, and don’t forget that if you are a Caravan Club member you will probable get discounts into some attractions. The wardens were incredibly helpful and friendly with well thought out buildings and large showers that even I could fit into. My only criticism…the dog walk, it’s a great sized open area, but slopes at 45degrees so make sure you have decent footwear for attempting a gentle stroll with the pooch, especially when its wet! Belper has all the amenities you would need including fuel, major shopping markets and local stores.
I love Derbyshire, and this is a great place to set up base camp knowing you have all the facilities you need when you get back from walking, biking or shopping!
