The Walled Garden Caravan and Camping Park

Ayr, Ayrshire

Enquire Now You enquired

If you want to spend your camping and caravan holidays in Scotland, then this lovely, quiet and secluded campsite within the historic Kilkerran Estate, home of the Fergusson family, could be exactly what you are looking for.

Sylvia and Jim McCosh run The Walled Garden Caravan and Camping Park, which is in south Ayrshire. Touring caravans, motorhomes and tents are welcome here, and the pitches are laid out within the beautifully manicured walled garden from which the site takes its name. There are grass and hardstanding pitches, and most of them have electric hook-ups. The amenities block is clean and generously sized, with toilets, basins, showers, shaver points and hairdryers. There are also sinks where you can do your washing up and a laundry room with washing, drying and ironing facilities.

The small on-site shop stocks everyday essentials, and newspapers, milk and morning rolls are delivered on a daily basis, plus Calor Gas is available.

The recreation room at The Walled Garden Caravan and Camping Park has plenty to entertain you if the weather outside isn't so great. There's a TV and a library, as well as table tennis, table football and pool. Outside there's a children's play area and somewhere for under 10s to play in safety, a place for enjoying ball games and a small putting green. Carpet bowling is offered here, too, informal competitions held every week. Or simply take the time to walk around the park, its wonderful setting giving you so much to see.

This campsite is less than 10 miles from the coast. Indeed the coastal town of Girvan on the west coast of Scotland, with its cliffs and beaches is only about a 25-minute drive from this holiday park. Maybole is just over 10 minutes away by car, while Ayr, the largest town in the area, is around half an hour away by car. If you're going to Ayr, one of the must-see attractions is the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. There's also Culzean Castle and Country Park, which is right on the coast and about 30 minutes from this campsite – this National Trust for Scotland run property is very impressive.

If you've decided to stay at The Walled Garden Caravan and Camping Park for your camping, motorhome or caravan holidays in Scotland, as well as truly being able 'to get away from it all' on site, you really can dive in and discover the natural beauty of this entire area. Galloway Forest Park is on your doorstep, simply waiting for you to explore it. This is the UK's biggest Forest Park, covering over 300 square miles, so there is plenty for you to do here, even if you've visited previously. And it is one of the best places in Europe for star gazing and was the first Dark Sky Park in Scotland. There are three visitors centres at Galloway Forest Park, any of which would make a useful starting point for your adventures here. Whatever time of year and whatever type of walk you are looking for, there are footpaths and routes for you. There are also world class mountain biking facilities here.

First Class park, Jim the owner went out of his way to rectify an electrical problem with our van which only became apparent when setting up for our 7 nt stay. While rectifying this problem he also discovered that our gas regulator was leaking,lo and behold Jim produced one and fitted it for us.
Cannot praise the Service recieved highly enough as our stay could have been ruined.

We stayed here in the summer and it really is superb. The proprietor is the friendliest and most helpful guy you could wish to meet. The location is really sheltered and in a wonderful area. Facilities nearby include a Golf course about 3 mile away and its handy for Ayr and the coast.
