If you're searching for the perfect campsite at which to spend your camping and caravan holidays in Somerset, this could be it. It is a traditional campsite just a few minutes from the famous Cheddar Gorge.
Petruth Paddocks is a beautiful camping park found outside the charming country town of Cheddar, on the outskirts of the Mendip Hills, which is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The park is open all year, is dog friendly and family friendly, and accommodates motorhomes, touring caravans and tents.
There are 200 pitches here, of which 12 are hardstanding pitches, plus electric, water and drainage hook-ups are available at some pitches.
Petruth Paddocks is just off the A371, making it easy to find and get to, as well as meaning it is easy to get away from this campsite to explore the wider area. Stay here and you're on the very edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is well worth exploring, with the lakes of Chew Valley and the limestone hills. If you love walking, you're in luck, as there are many footpaths that cross this area, plus there are many cycle paths, so you can take in the landscape on two wheels, too.
As we've already said, Cheddar Gorge is a stone's throw from Petruth Paddocks, while a quarter of an hour from this campsite by car is Wookey Hole Caves, and the charming and characterful cathedral city of Wells is just a 20-minute drive from this park and is well worth some of your time.
