Since 2005, improvement works have continued at Peak Gateway Leisure Club to create a family Caravan and Camping site. The location of the site is ideal for access to the Peak National Park with its beautiful scenery and unspoilt country walks. Access to Ashbourne town centre shopping is also easy from the site either by road or foot path, known as Bonnie Prince Charlies Way, which runs through the middle of the site.

The facilities provided at the site make it one of the best sites in the area and you will find most of these facilities in the main building housing the reception and bar. Various events take place at weekends and bank holidays throughout the year, details of which can be found in the Events section of the Web site.

The site has some positive points which are;
good location
friendly helpful staff
onsite bar
Disliked: extremely expensive for what you get £40 a night!!
only toilets and showers behind reception were open - a good 5 min walk from touring area
most of the facilities were not available - playground, games room, cafe, sports facilities ( families had booked this site because of those facilities.)
most importantly, there appear to be problems with the electric supply on site, a number of people were experiencing problems whilst we were there. The problems we experienced resulted in us leaving a day early and no refund was offered. When we arrived home all our electrics worked perfectly.

We got the impression that this site is mainly for statics and seasonals even though the touring area is quite large the facilities for them are poor.The site has some positive points which are;

Rubbish, owner not very friendly, in fact i would go as far as saying he is down right nasty, the toilet block was disgusting and probably hadn't been cleaned for at least a year. Go somewhere else

How come you discriminate? I'm a black irish lesbian in a wheel chair but you won't let me bring my staffy service dog with me?
Is it because I'm black or crippled or because of my dog?

The entrance to this site is very welcoming... Down a lane with sheep on both sides it is very inviting... On arriving at Reception you will find many things to make your stay enjoyable... The Outside Inn is very cosy and friendly with entertainment most Saturday nights. The owners Bob and Annie go out of their way to make sure everyone enjoys themselves..... For the children there is a Games room, Play Area and bouncy castle.... The cafe serves lovely dinners... A lot of the pitches are Seasonal but the touring area is situated in a lovely part of the site with outstanding views....... There is also a huge tent area with enormous pitches... The site has the usual electric hook ups and water and numerous showers. It is also very dog friendly... There are various walks leading from the site one which takes you to Ashbourne which is a very well known market town... Places of interest nearby are Carsington Water, Dovedale and Alton Towers...... We love this site and will be going back many times...
