Low Glengyre Farm Certificated Location (CL) is a quiet park offering just five hard standing pitches to Caravan Club members as well as a static caravan for hire. The farm is allowed to have up to five touring caravans and motorhomes staying per night, however there are no facilities for accommodating tents at the park. Found in a remote, westerly corner of Dumfries and Galloway, the park is nonetheless an amazing base for exploring the region and enjoying the very best of what the local area has to offer.
The park is open all year, and all five pitches benefit from electric hook up. Unusually for a small CL site, there is a cabin containing a roomy shower and two toilets, laundry facilities, a chemical waste disposal point and even Wi-Fi internet access. Families with children are very welcome and there is a children’s playground on the campsite so that your little ones can have the time of their lives running off their energy reserves. This is a dog-friendly place, too, and there is plenty of space in the surrounding area for all those essential dog walks, making this a joyful holiday destination for dog-owners.
The static caravan has now been upgraded with private decking area and exclusive use of hot tub!
While Low Glengyre Farm CL is in a beautiful unspoiled location, guests will find plenty to do nearby. Those looking to enjoy the wonder of the Scottish outdoors will find the immediate local area ideal for walking and cycling. Countryside and coastal paths are widely available along with plenty of opportunities to venture off the beaten track. Amazing views across Loch Ryan and across the sea to the Irish mainland are available on clear days, while the whole landscape offers many breath taking sights and photo opportunities.
In the nearest town, Stranraer, you will be able to stock up on holiday essentials as well as enjoy spending time in the local community. Stranraer has a diverse mix of locally owned and run businesses along with popular chain stores, while there is also a wonderful collection of bars and restaurants meaning that you can always pick up something to eat and drink, whether you are looking to sit down and relax over dinner or enjoy a takeaway back in the caravan or motorhome. The town boasts museums, a cinema, and a leisure centre, so there are plenty of things to do on holiday in Stranraer.
Outdoor activities are what attract many tourists to Scotland, and there are several locations to enjoy fishing, golf, and horse riding. Many fishermen in the local villages are happy to take tourists out to sea with them for an exciting time trying to catch fish. If you like golfing holidays, or just enjoy walks, the nearby golf courses aren’t just great for enjoying a round but also offer breathtaking views of the coast and countryside.
South of Stranraer is the pretty village of Portpatrick, which is ideal for those preferring a quieter way of life. Portpatrick is a friendly and welcoming community, with small stores and pubs perfect for guests looking to stay away from the busier local areas.
A drive around Loch Ryan will bring guests to the ferry terminal at Cairnryan, with daily ferries operating to Northern Ireland. Services run to Larne and Belfast and give guests every opportunity to explore further afield should they wish to do so.
Low Glengyre Farm CL is a great location for quiet family motorhome and caravan holidays in Scotland, with a wide range of attractions and activities well within reach for those looking to get out and explore Dumfries and Galloway.
