Bramble Beck Country Park is a peaceful family-owned park and arboretum set in 6 acres of rolling countryside and beautiful woodland. For a relaxing holiday in Cumbria, this is a tranquil place where you can fully rest and recharge and the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District, the Solway Coast and the Scottish Borders. The ancient border city of Carlisle is also just 10 minutes away for anyone who loves shopping.
Run and owned by the Swainson family since 1990, they have farmed locally since 1935 and are passionate about the natural environment. The park and surrounding farmland feature an abundance of flora and fauna and a babbling brook, which Bramble Beck is named after.
The family created a wonderful arboretum for holidaymakers to explore by way of a walking trail. The tree trail starts at the nearby Bird of Prey Centre, then goes through the arboretum where you can marvel at the 150 different species of trees, including some rare varieties not usually seen in this country. The trail takes around an hour to walk, with some short cuts available and there are beautiful wildflowers, birds and animals, including red squirrels, hares, buzzards, curlews and lapwings to be seen.
Nearby, there is so much to see including the world-famous Hadrian’s Wall and the ancient village of Burgh by Sands which lies within the Solway Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
