We visited on the recommendation of another camper after hearing that this site had recently won the Tourist board award for the best campsite in England....
Its fair to say, our expectations were high, but we were still blown away!
A perfect location - close enough to St Ives to walk there, but far enough away to escape the busyness of it, and not have to struggle with parking.
The swimming pool is gorgeous, and was a good temperature considering its an outdoor pool - we were lucky with the weather, and it was such a treat.
The toilet blocks were about the nicest I've seen anywhere, and so spotless, and you saw the cleaning staff in and out - day and nighttime
The best think about the site though, was how lovely and friendly the staff were, from the booking team, through to the cleaning staff and the crew in the bar.
The food was delicious, and way better than we'd expected for a campsite food place.
Can see why they won the award, and we'll definitely be back!

On arrival at the park the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had not used a serviced pitch before and were unsure about the waste water. One of the staff came and helped us set up which was great.
The pitches were nice but I would strongly recommend levelling blocks. Some of them slope quite significantly.
It was a lovely walk into St Ives. I'm not sure why people say it's a steep walk back. We didn't use the bus at all. It is uphill on the way back but it's more of a gradual slope rather than a steep hill. We managed it pushing a pram anyway!
Due to the weather we only used the pool once but it was warm and clean.
Having the option of a restaurant and take away was good and they were reasonably priced.
The shop was a little pricey but with Tesco within walking distance we didn't really need to use it. Gas was cheap however.
The toilet blocks were clean. I just found it a little annoying that the shower stayed on for only about 20 seconds at a time and there was no temperature control and they were quite hot! There was a lady showering her children in the cubicle next to me and they were complaining.
We walked round the site before we left to identify some pitches we might like if we stayed again. We requested a pitch at the time of booking but did not get it so it might be worth listing a few when you book. Also make sure you follow the travel advice that is on the website as there are some roads in the area that are definitely unsuitable for caravans.
Overall I would definitely return to this site. The location is excellent as were the staff and facilities.

although living in Cornwall we like to camp locally and by far the nicest site in my opinion is Polmanter just outside St Ives.It is a pretty ,clean site with a well stocked shop, lovely restaurant and swimming pool and clean modern shower/toilet block and nice level pitches. It is just about within walking distance or a hop on the bus distance from St Ives which is a good thing to avoid the very expensive car parking.Be warned if you wish to stay here in high season, book up really early as it is a very popular site!!!

Beautiful clean and modern site that caters for the whole family, while we were there, the weather was awful, but it didn't spoil things at all. However, we weren't able to use all the facilities ie tennis courts, badminton games but, still used the heated pool. Indoor games room kept the teenagers occupied, the night entertainment (bingo Bob) was basic but very enjoyable. The restaurant, was very reasonable and the food was cooked to order, it was really tasty. A fairly long walk into St Ives, but a very pleasant walk, although i wouldn't like to try it with young children. A really good bus service runs on the hour at 50p per child and £1 for an adult, so wouldn't attempt to walk back from the town as it must be a good mile and a half up a very steep hill. Booked again for may next year and hope for better weather, really brilliant family holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We chose to visit Polmanter after seeing it in the best of British booklet & reading magazine reviews
Polmanter on paper is the perfect caravan & camping site it dose have excellent pitches, a well placed late arrivals area, excellent out door swimming pool & I have to admit the new toilet block was very modern & always very clean. The play area for younger children was also very good as for the view from our pitch it was priceless.
So what put us off this site?
On arrival at the site office the reception staff seemed very snobby & this seemed to be the attitude of most of the staff working their (we have never came across this type of attitude on any other site we have stayed on good or bad) I can only guess that the magazine’s reporters that reviewed this site was known to the site staff & did not arrive unannounced.
The take a way & bar was only open for what seemed to be about two hours a day
& The short walk into the town/beach was down a narrow steep road not ideal if you have a young family the only alternative was to get the bus into town or take the car to an alternative beach.
As it was about two years ago we stayed on this site we can only hope the staff have been retrained in customer relations

This site is very well maintained by the Osbornes. There is a real sense of family commitment to making sure that everything is looked after. The site has spacious pitches and there is on-going tree and hedge planting. The facilites are excellent and provide for all ages. The site is in an excellent location for visiting St Ives and the Lands End peninsula. There is a superb arrangement for over night arrivals with carefully managed access to pitches. You can arrive any time and stay over on the arrivals field.
