Outney Meadow Caravan Park in Bungay is a pet-friendly, family-run site set in eight acres of riverside woodland on the Norfolk–Suffolk border, near historic Norwich.

Surrounded by the beautiful wetlands of the Norfolk Broads National Park, the park is an ideal base for exploring both counties and enjoying the best of East Anglia’s countryside and coast. Guests can bring tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, with a choice of grass or hardstanding pitches, all complete with electric hook-ups. Caravan storage is also available.

Life on site is relaxed and outdoorsy. Guests can fish from the banks of the River Waveney, hire a canoe and drift along its gentle waters, or take a refreshing dip on warm days. Picnic tables are dotted around the grounds and BBQs are welcome, making alfresco dining part of the holiday experience. There is a designated dog-walking area, and well-behaved pets are warmly welcomed.

Our location in Bungay is perfect for discovering the Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland, with its network of rivers, lakes, meadows and villages. Walking, boating and birdwatching are all on the doorstep. Beyond the Broads, Suffolk offers historic castles, grand stately homes and beautiful gardens, as well as golden sandy beaches just 30 minutes away. Traditional seaside fun can be found at Great Yarmouth, while the smaller resort of Southwold and the dramatic Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offer a more laid-back experience.

From the park it is just half an hour to Norwich, one of Britain’s best-preserved medieval cities, with its cathedral, castle, shops and cultural scene. Closer to home, the market town of Bungay is a short stroll away, with independent shops, cosy pubs and local restaurants.

Open from March to October, Outney Meadow Caravan Park offers a welcoming atmosphere, excellent facilities and a peaceful natural setting. Enquire today and plan your riverside escape to this serene corner of Suffolk.

The site is well located for those who don’t want to contend with narrow country lanes or difficult road conditions as it is right next to the A143 as a dedicated exit from the major roundabout serving Bungay’s town centre. It’s a great site for your first towing expedition. The area where you arrive is a bit scruffy, but once through the gate, the site smartens up.
It is split up into separate touring fields but when we visited, only the field at the end of the main access road was open. Pitches are not rigorously marked, so it is a matter of siting your van so you can get on a hook up and not inconveniencing the other visitors.
The washroom facilities are dated, but they work and kept clean. The push button showers are free although not especially hot at the time of our visit.
As a low season destination, Outney Meadow is fine. It is open all year, has hook-ups available and the site roads are compacted gravel so there should be minimal slithering about in poor weather. Head there later in the season, and you can hire bikes on site and even canoes to go looking for wildlife on the River Waveney. There is a golf course within a five minute walk and fishing on the river or in the nearby lake isIt is well located for a visit to the southern end of the Norfolk Broads and is around a half hour drive from the Suffolk coast.

here you will find everything you need for a stay on this lovely site.
The site is within easy reach of Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Norwich. for days out sight seeing or lazing on the beach.
The access to the site is very easy,On entering the site for the first time you may think you have made a mistake as there are derelict caravans and vehicles opposite the reception.
Dont let this put you off the owners of the site are both very helpful and pleasant and know the area very well.
The site is divided into five sections for touring and camping, each field is seperated by mature hedges and trees, the pitches are a generous size and level with EH,On site there is canoeing, canoes can be hired on site also rowing boats and cycle hire.
Just out side the site is a comon where you can walk your dog and a lake where you can fish, you can also fish in the river on site. There is a golf course 5 minute walk.
Facilities on site, there is a reception selling small selection of bits, gas is available as are camping accessories, the toilets and showers are clean but dated, not heated, also there aren`t that many, there is a laundry on site, fresh water pipes are spread around the site but grey water waste and chemical disposal are in an area close to the toilets.
