New House Farm campsite in Powys offers a fun and authentic camping experience on a working farm. This campsite is between Builth Wells and Hay-on-Wye, in the Radnorshire Hills, a short distance from the England and Wales border. New House Farm is nicely sheltered and secluded owing to the surrounding hills and woodland, and welcomes guests with touring caravans and tents onto its all-grass campsite. The farmhouse also offers the option of staying in one of its bed and breakfast rooms. There is stabling you can rent for your horse, too, so you could even enjoy riding your own horse through the hills during your holidays at New House Farm campsite.

Facilities offered to you during your holidays camping in a tent or touring caravan at New House Farm include toilets, showers, a chemical disposal point, and a communal camp fire area. Tourist information is available from the farmhouse for you, to help you to plan your exploration of the local area.

Camper’s breakfasts, packed lunches, and hot evening meals are available most of the time. You will simply need to book ahead so the park owners are aware of your requirements each day. The site is quite isolated and a fair distance from the nearest town and shops, so guests are encouraged to double check that they have all essentials with them before they set off for their stay at the park.

As a guest at New House Farm you are welcome to walk around most areas of the farm during your holiday at the campsite. Sometimes there will be an opportunity to get involved with what is happening on the farm at the time. The spring and the summer are particularly good times to stay at New House Farm for animal lovers, as this is when the lambing and calving occurs.

The site’s remote location means that outdoor activities and pursuits are always the first option when it comes to things to do. There are some incredible walks available through the countryside and across the Radnorshire Hills, while guests who take their mountain bikes along with them will also find several routes that are easily accessible on two wheels.

If you are happy to jump in a vehicle you can head out into Wales and towards the border with England, where you will find a rich array of popular places to see.

Visit Hay-on-Wye, which is the nearest town and is seven miles away from New House Farm. Hay is the venue for the famous literary Hay Festival at the end of May each year and is a book-themed town all year round, famous for its large number of secondhand book shops. The town also has a great market and a large collection of quirky gift shops, pubs, and restaurants. There are some excellent walks through the town, too, especially along the River Wye itself.

Further south is the town of Brecon, another market town that also has a range of cultural attractions in museums and a cathedral. Brecon also hosts a jazz festival every August, which attracts musicians and jazz lovers from across the world.

Both towns are ideal gateways to the Brecon Beacons National Park, perfect for outdoor lovers once they've tried out all the country and hillside walking routes immediately surrounding New House Farm.

Across the border into England, the charming cathedral city of Hereford is just 20 miles away and accessible via a scenic drive. With its cobbled streets and numerous examples of medieval architecture, along with parks, the river, a leisure centre, and other modern amenities, Hereford is a wonderful place for a family day out.

Hay-on Wye. World famous town of second hand books and The Literary Festival. 7 miles.

Brecon. Market town with some excellent museums and a cathedral. It also hosts the renound Brecon Jazz Festival every August. South Wales Borderers Museum, Canal Museum

Hereford. 20 miles. The cathedral houses the Mappa Mundi and the chained library. Bulmers cider museum is also well worth a visit.

Builth Wells. 15 miles. Home of the Royal Welsh Showground where there are numerous events going on throught the year.

Kington. 12 miles. Visit the Small Breeds Farm where you can see many varieties of animals including owls and small farm animals.

There are over 20,000 acres of rolling hills on our doorstep, giving access to some of the most beautiful countryside in wales. Here is the ideal walking, riding and mountain biking country.

Bryngwyn Riding Center. 3 miles. Caters for all ages and abilities.

Rhosgoch Golf Course. 1.5 miles. 9 hole course with club house and bar. Several other courses nearby.

Canoeing on the River Wye Hay-on Wye. 7 miles.

Bird watching. On the farm you can see herons, buzzards and the occasional red kite. There is a red kite visitor centre in the area where you can see large numbers at feeding time.

Gliding at Talgarth 14 miles.
