Rocks East Woodland is a charming campsite found in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the county borders of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

This is a campsite for tent campers only, although there is also a yurt available for hire, which has room for a family of four. Rocks East Woodland opens in early April and closes at the end of October each year.

The main facilities at Rocks East Woodland are sited in the log cabin at the centre of the camping site, where guests will find showers, basins, toilets and a washing up area. The log cabin acts as the park’s office and reception area too, while there is also a small shop sited in the structure. The shop stocks a small selection of camping accessories and basic, everyday groceries.

Campfires are permitted on the site, with trays provided by Rocks East Woodland for this purpose. The park also has two barbecues available for hire, as well as a classroom and outdoor seating area for guests looking to take part in learning events and organised activities at the site.

There is much to do throughout the woodland at Rocks East, with miles of stunning nature walks, including a sculpture trail that is loved by younger guests. The sculpture trail takes tourists on a beautiful walk through the woods, where carved animals and birds can be spotted. There is also a fun ‘Teddy Bear Hut’ that is adjacent to the picnic area found in the woods. Walking through the woods offers guests an opportunity to spot a large number of animals that call the area home, including deer and foxes, plus a variety of birds and insects. When guests have finished exploring the beautiful woodland and learning about the outdoors of Rocks East, there are plenty of amazing places close by to visit, too.

Just a quarter of an hour's drive from Rocks East Woodland is Castle Combe, which has been described as the prettiest village in England. Whether you agree with this or not, it is a picture perfect place – enjoy a meal at the pub or watch some motorsport at the race circuit there.

Fancy a round of golf? Manor House Golf Club, Cumberwell Park Golf Course and Bath Golf Club are all about a 20-minute drive away. Or spend a day at the races at Bath Racecourse.

If you'd like to visit Bath, it's a magnificent and beautiful city that is under a half hour drive from this campsite. One of the top things to do in Bath is to take a dip at the ancient Thermae Bath Spa. Bath Abbey is also worth walking around, plus there are a great many pubs, cafes and restaurants, some of which are award-winning, if you really want to treat yourself.

Alternatively, visit Bristol, just over half an hour by car from Rocks East Woodland. From the zoo to the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the regenerated harbourside, there is a lot to see and do here. Chippenham is also a 20-minute drive away, charming Lacock 25 minutes by car from this campsite, while both Stonehenge and Longleat Safari and Adventure Park are within an hour's drive of this site.
