This was my first real experience of a caravanning holiday, as we borrowed our next door neighbour's caravan for a local holiday away to Scratby Hall Caravan site, located outside of Caister to the north of Great Yarmouth, the site has a shop, laundry facilities, games room, public telephone, toilet and shower blocks and dishwashing facilities.

I was largely impressed by the site, it was very clean and tidy, with a great outdoor swimming pool which I believe was heated, with lifeguard present at all times. There is a mixture of tents and caravans with two fields. There is a small play area for the kids with a climbing frame etc.

The toilet blocks were cleaned daily early in the morning, and are newly built. Plenty of toilets and 6-7 showers in each block, with lots of hot water (although you're advised to miss the first blast of water which is freezing!, but quickly warms up) Hard doors separate a changing area with a shower curtain to prevent all your things getting wet. The showers are a little difficult to use with children as the heads are non-adjustable.

The onsite shop is very reasonably priced and stocks groceries, camping items, daily papers, toys etc.

The location is great as it's a quiet site, but not too far away from smaller beaches such as Scratby or Hemsby, and only 10 minutes away from Great Yarmouth itself. Plenty of tourist attractions for all ages in the nearby vicinity, including access to the Norfolk Broads.

We had a lot of rain during the week away and the grass was getting very boggy towards the end of the week, although this effects of this were minimised as much as possible.

I would return to this site again, and recommend it for those with young children, although there were a great mixture of campers on the site. I enjoyed myself so much the purchase on the way home was a caravan for my family!
