If you're looking for terrific family caravan holidays in Scotland, take a look at Craig Tara Holiday Park, overlooking the Firth of Clyde in Ayrshire. This all-singing-and-dancing holiday park is part of the Haven Holidays group and offers something for every member of the family. Hire a two or three bedroomed holiday caravan or chalet, or a holiday apartment or specially adapted static caravan for hire. If you decide Craig Tara is so lovely that you need to return again and again, why not consider buying a holiday caravan here? That way you can escape to your holiday home in Scotland as often as you like from March to November every year!
There's plenty to do at Craig Tara, because there is an indoor swimming pool complex with long water slides, moving river, waterfalls, water jets, a flume, a toddler pool and other splashing fun. You can even hitch a ride on an Aqua glider and move effortlessly through the water. The swimming pools complex has been refurbished in 2015.
Sports are on offer, too, with coaches teaching you how to use a bow in archery, and learn great moves in fencing, or scaling a climbing wall. All the family will enjoy playing a round of golf on a nine-hole golf course with amusing obstacles, while looking out at the lovely views over the sea towards the Isle of Arran. If you fancy more exciting holiday activities, why not try Laser Combat or hire a go-kart? From 2015 onwards, Segways will also be available to add to your holiday fun.
The indoor activities possible at Craig Tara Holiday Park are extensive. There's an 'indoor Airspace' sports complex, which is where you'll find the climbing wall, plus a jungle-style soft play adventure playground for the younger children.
Outdoors, if you fancy a game of cricket, rounders or any other ball games, there are patches of grass – and an all-weather multi-sports court – just waiting for you and your friends to turn up and play. Small children aged two-and-a-half years old up to six can learn to ride a bike at Craig Tara, learning to balance with the help of pre-school experts!
The fun doesn't end there, because for children aged four and over there are amazing Bungee trampolines to try out. An expert will do the fiddly bit of attaching the safety harness and bungee rope, then it's up to the children to experiment with bouncing higher than they've ever dared to go before!
Pottery painting workshops and sand art are also available for quieter moments. There's also an entertainment schedule, with kids' clubs and evening shows.
While you are staying at Craig Tara it is worth exploring the surrounding area, too. Ayr itself is a popular seaside holiday town, with an attractive esplanade and long sandy beach. Visit Heads of Ayr Farm Park and have a ride on some quad bikes. Find out all about the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns at his Birthplace Museum in Alloway, just outside Ayr. And if your little ones are restless, head to Ayr Beach, and the soft play delights of Pirate Pete's Family Entertainment Centre. You'll find plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés, a seaside variety show theatre and three golf courses in Ayr, too. And if you like watching horse racing, check out the list of race meetings at Ayr Racecourse before booking your holiday, since this is the home of the Scottish Grand National, Ayr Gold Cup, Ayrshire Handicap and other famous horse races in Scotland.
There are plenty more amazing sandy beaches in Ayrshire, Scotland, and it's worth driving along the coast to Barassie Beach, with its views of the Isle of Arran and Firth of Clyde, and Croy Beach, between Maidens and Dunure.

We stayed at Craig tara and really enjoyed it, the site is lovely, there is a lot of things to do there, there was a panto on through the day for the kids this year as well as the night shows, it's also very close to the beach. The food is lovely in the mash & barrel pub. The site is clean and tidy. The evening is also great for shows and bingo, the staff are lovely and friendly, and get everyone dancing on a night time, it was a fun stay for us and our kids, loved it.

We were recently at craig tara holiday park with our touring caravan. We were very disappointed with the standard of campsite. We did not find it reassuring that we were not inside the complex and had no security for our van, awning and property. We did not know that it is not suitable for people with walking disabilities as it was on a steep hill and a long walk. The toilets and showers were clean but very old and in very bad condition. As a seasonal tourer we would in no way recommend this site.
