Located high above the Fowey Estuary, on the edge of Bodinnick Village, Penmarlam Caravan & Camping Park enjoys spectacular views across the hills and valleys of southern Cornwall. Indeed, this campsite is in part of the county designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Welcoming guests staying in caravans, motorhomes and tents, there are 43 touring pitches at Penmarlam Caravan & Camping Park which is open from April until October, and although none of the pitches are hardstanding, all have 16A electric hook-ups. The 14 serviced pitches have a water tap and drainage, too, plus there are drinking water points dotted all around the campsite. There are also seasonal pitches, so if you really fall for this park you can extend your stay.
The campsite is split between two fields each with it's own distinct character, you can choose your own pitch on arrival. There is a modern heated amenity block with showers, toilets and basins, as well as disabled facilities and a baby changing room. You'll also be pleased to know there is a laundrette and Wi-Fi access, plus there's a well stocked shop and off-licence, meaning you don't need to leave the site to top up on your holiday essentials.
In addition, Penmarlam Caravan & Camping Park is an award winning campsite and one of the best campsites in Cornwall (a very popular county for camping and caravan holidays), according to the 2016 Top 100 Sites Guide, produced by Practical Motorhome, Practical Caravan and Caravan Sitefinder. This essential camping guide lists the best campsites in the UK and as a sign of this campsite's consistent ability to impress, Penmarlam Caravan & Camping Park has been a finalist in the Top 100 Sites Guide every year since 2010. Visitors rated the site for its first class facilities, wonderful vistas and the fact that it is clean, quiet and small. This site has also won platinum Loo of the Year Awards every year since 2010, and it has a four-star award from VisitEngland.
This is also a dog friendly campsite, so long as dogs are kept on their leads, and there are many lanes and paths nearby where you can exercise your dog. Near the campsite entrance you'll find a slipway to the estuary and here you can store your boat, launch your boat or take a pontoon berth. Guests are also welcome to use the picnic area, and they can fish from the quay.
From this campsite it is just a short walk to the picturesque riverside village of Bodinnick, where you can enjoy a tasty lunch at the Old Ferry Inn, or take a look at the former home of novelist Daphne du Maurier. There are lots of lovely walks from this campsite, plus there's the annual Fowey Regatta, held every August.
If you've pitched at Penmarlam Caravan & Camping Park for your motorhome, camping and caravan holidays in Cornwall, you really are getting away from it all at this campsite so close to the south Cornish coast. It will take you about 20 minutes to drive to St Austell and around half an hour to drive to the Eden Project, while Looe is 20 minutes by car to the east and further afield you could explore Bodmin Moor while on tour.
