Saddleworth Moor is famous for its walking routes, and guests that love the outdoors will find miles of moorland and countryside to explore during their stay. Most routes are also accessible on bicycle or horseback, but guests are encouraged to check the terrain before choosing these options. The Pennine Bridleway passes through the park. This area is a walker’s paradise, so get those walking boots and cagoules on and enjoy exploring the Pennine Way and the moors.
Saddleworth boasts good countryside pubs serving delicious pub food and traditional ales. There's an annual Brass Band Contest, Beer Walk, Folk Festival, Yorkshire Day, Yanks Wartime Weekend and a beer festival.
As well as having miles of amazing landscape in the Pennines to explore, the park itself is also a centre of the local community, hosting events and festivals throughout the year that attract many guests to Moorlands and the surrounding area. Be sure to check the park’s event schedule prior to booking, as demand is always high when there is something going on!
On the site there is also an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre, which offers hours of fun for families looking to stay active without heading out onto Saddleworth.
The area surrounding the park is well-known for its country pubs, all of which are welcoming to families, with most of them serving food sourced from the local area. Guests also enjoy trying the local ales served in many of the local establishments. Those that prefer a different environment can find several high quality restaurants in the area, too.
Away from the immediate confines of the park and Saddleworth Moor, guests can enjoy access to all of the North West. If you fancy a day out in one of the famous northern cities, you can be in Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford, Leeds, Hull, York or Blackpool in about an hour. Many choose to head into Manchester and take in the amazing shops and leisure facilities found in the city, while some choose to head to the coast and locations such as Blackpool and Morecambe.
