Moorlands Caravan Park is a popular holiday retreat found a short distance outside of Oldham on Saddleworth Moor. The park is open all year and welcomes guests with motorhomes, tents, and touring caravans, while there are also two camping pods available for hire on the park. Permanent residences are also available at Moorlands Caravan Park to anyone over the age of 55 that wishes to make their permanent home in this beautiful location.

The park is family and pet friendly, and a range of facilities are provided to ensure guests enjoy a comfortable stay. These include toilet blocks, laundry room, washing up area, and chemical disposal points. Six of the pitches found at Moorlands Caravan Park are serviced with electric, water, and drainage hook ups. There is a handy on-site shop where guests can stock up on holiday essentials and groceries, as well as swap LPG canisters.

Guests staying at Moorlands are able to enjoy discounted rates on fishing permits for the nearby Dowery Reservoir, a beautiful location and an amazing place to spend the day, either relaxing alone or fishing with the family.

Saddleworth Moor is famous for its walking routes, and guests that love the outdoors will find miles of moorland and countryside to explore during their stay. Most routes are also accessible on bicycle or horseback, but guests are encouraged to check the terrain before choosing these options. The Pennine Bridleway passes through the park. This area is a walker’s paradise, so get those walking boots and cagoules on and enjoy exploring the Pennine Way and the moors.

Saddleworth boasts good countryside pubs serving delicious pub food and traditional ales. There's an annual Brass Band Contest, Beer Walk, Folk Festival, Yorkshire Day, Yanks Wartime Weekend and a beer festival.

As well as having miles of amazing landscape in the Pennines to explore, the park itself is also a centre of the local community, hosting events and festivals throughout the year that attract many guests to Moorlands and the surrounding area. Be sure to check the park’s event schedule prior to booking, as demand is always high when there is something going on!

On the site there is also an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre, which offers hours of fun for families looking to stay active without heading out onto Saddleworth.

The area surrounding the park is well-known for its country pubs, all of which are welcoming to families, with most of them serving food sourced from the local area. Guests also enjoy trying the local ales served in many of the local establishments. Those that prefer a different environment can find several high quality restaurants in the area, too.

Away from the immediate confines of the park and Saddleworth Moor, guests can enjoy access to all of the North West. If you fancy a day out in one of the famous northern cities, you can be in Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford, Leeds, Hull, York or Blackpool in about an hour. Many choose to head into Manchester and take in the amazing shops and leisure facilities found in the city, while some choose to head to the coast and locations such as Blackpool and Morecambe.

The Peak District National Park is also found a close distance to the south, itself a great location offering activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Moorlands Touring Park is a great place for a family break, both for escaping to a quiet location and enjoying the wonderful outdoor environment of Saddleworth Moor.

As first time campers in a motorhome this site was a fantastic place to stay. The owner was a fantastic help as our gas ran out and we didn't have all the equipment needed to attach a new. The shower block was clean and warm. The site is child friendly, my boys had a great time and we were given recommendation of places to go in the area that was also child friendly. On the whole we all had a great time and the boys have already asked if we can go back and stay in one of the camping pods. Many thanks for all your help

site was nice loverley views i think that toilet block was clean but in peak time 2 showers and 3 toilets in ladies wont be enough pitch with electric is not as it seems you get so much a day if you use that up the owner said i could buy more after i had paid to stay there road in very tight dogs must be on lead all times no were to let dogs have a run around told if we let dog of he could be shot by farmer a bit off putting dont think i would stay there again

Property manager response (01 May 2015)

Thank You for your feedback, Firstly Electric is included in a nightly stay with ourselves, The reviewer Is referring here to the fact that she wanted to heat her awning which she had not paid for 24/7 so her dogs did not get cold, with an electric heater, as you can imagine we weren't willing to fund this. As for the Dogs, It is law for a dog to be on a lead in a public place, and the lady was told that we are surrounded by farms with livestock grazing, we merely pointed out that if her dog was seen off its lead by the farmers around their livestock she would run the risk of having it shot. As is a farmers right. We are sorry you will not be staying with us again, but we do have to draw the line somewhere.
