The Etoile des Neiges camp site lies close by the mountain village of St. Jean Montclar, near the Serre- Ponçon lake. It offers comfortable pitches in a great natural setting alongside a small stream. The panoramic restaurant offers traditional cuisine. There are some marvellous walks through this wide open sun-drenched valley with its Mediterranean climate from which you will get breathtaking views over the countryside and surrounding mountains.

Between the Alps and Provence, your holiday destination will be one of varied landscapes: lakes and forests, farms and pastures, majestic mountains, picturesque roads, gorges .... To be discovered: fortified villages, famous laps for the 'Tour de France', the geological reserve, the Mercantour Natural Park. The Serre-Ponçon lake covers nearly 7,500 acres. Fish or bathe on the beach or in the creeks and practice water sports. Boat trips around the lake are also organised and you can discover the history of Serre-Ponçon at the 'museoscope', visit the dam’s power station or see the eagles in the wildlife park. Come and visit the Espinasse - Jarjayes vineyard, situated only 25 km from the campsite. Fortified villages of St Vincent les Forts and Seyne Les Alpes with their mediaeval streets. Museum dedicated to the mule and farming life of yore, the ecomuseum of the forge, the bugade festival and the school, plus panoramic views. Barcelonnette and the adventure of those who emigrated from this town to Mexico. Nearby are a number of the mountain passes of the Tour de France and the Mercantour National Park. Also the local market at Cunéo on Tuesdays. The National Botany Conservatory and its collection of traditional roses at Gap and the Charance Estate.
