24th March to 31st October
The Verwood, New Forest Camping and Caravanning Club Site is found just outside of the New Forest National Park itself, and offers 150 gently sloping pitches that give those staying there wonderful views of the surrounding area.
The pitches at this campsite in Dorset are suitable for tents, motorhomes and touring caravans. A number of hardstanding pitches are available and many have electric hook-ups, while seasonal pitches are available, plus there are out of season caravan and motorhome storage facilities.
Other facilities at this campsite available for all guests to use when staying here include a laundrette, a washing up room, shower and toilet blocks, and chemical waste disposal points – there's also Wi-Fi.
In addition, this is a dog friendly campsite, so bring your canine friend to enjoy a break with the family, but please keep your dog under control and clear up after him/her. There is plenty of room at this campsite for dogs to run around and enjoy themselves – and for kids to do likewise. There's also a children’s play area and an indoor recreation space.
With the New Forest National Park right on the doorstep of this Camping and Caravanning Club site, this is the easiest place for families to go when they’re looking for outdoor activities. Things to do across the New Forest range from organised pursuits such as horse riding, to activities you can organise yourself, from walking and cycling to family ball games and a relaxing day of fishing. Or you can just enjoy a gentle walk, bike ride or drive, stop off in a country pub for a tasty lunch, or maybe treat yourself with a cream tea in somewhere like Brockenhurst or Lyndhurst – or maybe in Beaulieu, where you can also visit the Abbey and the Motor Museum.
If you need something more to tire the kids on their motorhome, camping and caravan holidays, remember that when pitched here you're not far from the beach – it will take about 30 or 40 minutes to drive to Poole or Bournemouth from this campsite. Both have plenty of shops and places to get a bite to eat, so you can enjoy a day off cooking while on your holidays. Poole also has the Splashdown Water Park, which is great for all the family, with pools, flumes and more. While popular things to do in Bournemouth include the world famous Bournemouth Pier, plus there's an aquarium, known as the Oceanarium, which is a great day out.
Also a 30- or 45-minute drive from this campsite is Paultons Theme Park, the Home of Peppa Pig World, a super destination for families on their camping holidays. While much nearer is the Moors Valley Country Park, home to the high-octane Go Ape! centre – and much more.
For more gentle things to do, take the half hour drive to Salisbury and spend time in this historic cathedral city, or visit Shaftesbury, also around 30 minutes away. Or how about the mysterious Stonehenge? It's less than an hour's drive from this New Forest Camping and Caravanning Club Site.
Bournemouth and Poole are 16 miles from the site and the New Forest just seven miles away. Our campers’ recommended local highlights for families include Splashdown Water Park, Paultons Family Theme Park, Adventure Wonderland, Moors Valley Country Park (including Go Ape! Treetop Adventure and the miniature narrow gauge railway), the New Forest Wildlife Park, Wimbourne Minster’s famous Model Town and Brownsea Island in Poole harbour. More leisurely days out in the area can be enjoyed at Rockbourne Roman Villa, the Priest’s House Museum, Kingston Lacy House and Estate, Knoll Gardens and Cranbourne Manor Gardens and Garden Centre.

Visited Summer 2004: Really good site, with a friendly welcoming feel from the moment you arrive. Ideal for exploring the New Forest or taking a trip to Poole or Bournemouth. Pitches seemed a bit cramped, but then again it was the peak of summer. Easy to find location, but beware of the busy main road. Good clean toilet & shower block.
